What’s there to like about cruises? Just about everything and a person such as world traveler Scott Grody would glowingly agree. Scott was born into a family travel business and his expertise spans five decades in the travel industry. However, one of the most remarkable aspects of Scott’s work is not just his 50-plus years of experience but his genuine desire to give back to the communities he serves. In fact, he said, “Giving back has been part of my life since I was a young adult. My family was always giving and they instilled that in me.” Scott said he was invited by his Dad to join “The Humanity Club” in which 100’s of men and their families joined together to raise money to help people in need. “I was exposed to giving when I was in my twenties,” Scott said, and it became natural to me that “It was the right thing to do.”
For THE 30 years when Scott lived on Long Island, he was the President of the Cedarhurst Chamber of Commerce and the UJA (United Jewish Appeal) involving the “5 Towns” and Rockaway. He was also a great advocate of giving to multiple worthy non-profits. His group donated to hospitals, art and music schools, and many other organizations. In 1997, Scott moved to Boca Raton and for the past 26 years, he has used his personal contacts for fundraising. In fact, in the last 5 or 6 years, Scott has raised almost $500,000 through his business Scott Grody Travel in concert with a variety of travel vendors, and especially Celebrity Cruises in which Scott Grody Travel is their Partner of the Year.
Targeting charity functions, Scott created popular travel packages such as “Cruise on the Fly” in which he has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars. He said, “It’s a humbling honor to change peoples’ lives.” His efforts and generosity have benefitted such local charitable organizations as Place of Hope, Florence Fuller, Boys & Girls Clubs, Rotary, various synagogues and churches, and the 27 charities in the Boca West Children’s Foundation.
From his fundraising cruises, Scott always gives a portion to the charities and often simply gives cruises away for auctions. He said, “My wife, Tinka, and I truly try to support every charity event.”

He focuses on 3 key areas of travel: luxury independent travel, group travel and luxury cruises all with his special signatures of extreme attention to detail as well as his instinct that “he knows what you will want even before you ask for it.” As a businessman who gives back, Scott said, “South Florida is a ‘community with a heart.’ It’s filled with generous and caring people.”
