Spotlight: Lenny Felberbaum of ENGEL & VÖLKERS

Have you bought or sold a home recently? If so, you know that it can be a daunting process. As many know, it’s a stressful one since even a minor mistake can end up costing thousands. Obviously, it takes time and effort to find someone knowledgeable and trustworthy. It also helps to find someone with years of experience and with a far reach of prospective buyers and sellers.

It sounds like a tall order.

Meet Lenny Felberbaum and Leanna Fruin of Engel & Volkers Delray Beach, and it’s evident that they are unique. Their methods, their terminology, offices, and even corporate leaders are all unique. They have an extensive network of exclusive listings, high-caliber agents and a brand of distinguished luxury and service. Based in a beautiful office on Atlantic Avenue in Delray, the trendiest area in Palm Beach County, Lenny describes the growth he has seen in his 14 years in Delray Beach as astounding. He also confirms that while there is no shortage of hungry realtors seeking to tap into it, Engel &Volkers doesn’t have to push to compete. It is a global company that has been in business for 40 years with its own special luxury lifestyle brand including Aviation and Yachting divisions. “We are in every major luxury market in the world!,” Lenny said.  If you are selling your property or sell property for a living why wouldn’t you want the most exposure for your listing? It sounds very basic, however, most local brokerages in this market do not provide the “Global Reach” that we do! As far as real estate agents go why would you limit your income potential to your local market? Our advisors send and receive client referrals from all over the world earning more than the average local agent earns in their local market in referrals!

Lenny Felberbaum came from New York, attended the University of Miami and studied real estate development. His experience ranges from corporate relocation to mortgage banking to land development. Coming from 4 generations of family in real estate, he said, “I had a calling.” And now, he has been recognized as one of Florida’s Top Realtors by Real Trends and been nominated for Realtor of the Year by the RAPB and GFLR.

Leanna Fruin is a licensed broker with 16 years experience in Delray Beach and 5 in Southern California. As a world traveler Leanna recognized the Engel and Volkers brand everywhere she went.

Lenny and Leanna collaborated at another brand six years ago and were able to see firsthand how powerful Engel and Volkers brand was so that they ultimately bought the franchise in Delray Beach. Engel and Volkers is a 40 year old German company that provides the highest level of service across 33 countries. Lenny said, Engel &Volkers is known for its “competency, exclusivity and passion.” Its over 800 real estate agencies are referred to as “shops” and its agents are “advisors.” In appearance, every shop follows a high-tech clean white design with splashes of red decor, bleached white wooden oak flooring and sunny floor to ceiling glass walls facing the street side. Each franchise owner is a licensed partner. All work together in a spirit of collaboration rather than competition exemplifying the idea of “Global Reach.” With the corporate headquarters in Hamburg, Germany, the company’s location makes it easy to reach Europeans, Canadians, Asians, and, in fact, ‘the whole world” Lenny said.

Engel &Volkers’ advisors speak several languages and handle properties in every country. “We do a lot of referrals to our sister companies in New York, Arizona, L.A., San Francisco, Toronto and Montreal,” Lenny said, “which makes it easy for both clients and advisors who work here.”

“We treat our clients special,” he said, and consider ourselves to be a ‘concierge service.’  Engel & Volkers advisors are adept at accommodating international buyers and sellers because of their knowledge of the lifestyles, language and customs in so many locations throughout Europe, Asia and North America.

Here in Delray, Lenny describes the “explosive growth” on Atlantic Avenue as an example of interesting contrasts; the city offers a small town feel with a walkable downtown area yet has a healthy arts scene and booming hip restaurants; it offers the advantages of a cosmopolitan city yet has easy proximity to the beach. Lenny recalled that 15 years ago Delray was honored as the “best all-American city” and then in the last 5 years it earned several other recognitions including “the friendliest American city.”  He sees a trend in which many are leaving  larger more congested cities such as Miami to seek more relaxed lifestyles. Lenny proudly noted,  “we get people from all over visiting here, and then they don’t want to leave.”  One of his favorite stories recounts how a European couple visited Delray. Following lunch they came to Lenny at Engel & Volkers and bought a property in Delray that same day.

“Considering the striking changes here in Delray in the past few years,” Lenny said, of the city, which was again awarded Best All America City in 2017, “I can only envision even more growth in the future and we are ready for it.”
